I’m hearing Ghosts
March 5, 2008 - Music
Trent Reznor released the latest Nine Inch Nails album called Ghosts I - IV a couple of days ago under a Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike License.
You can download the whole album from the Ghosts website for only a couple of bucks. There’s even a teaser with 9 out of the 36 tracks for free.
I downloaded the free version for now but after listening to the songs for some time I guess I’m going to spent the $10 on the 2 CD set.
The songs in the free download are mostly very laid back with dark and moody instrumentals only, no voices and not as in your face as many of Trent’s eaerlier albums. Definatly something worth listening to, especially as the teaser is free as in beer.
I just love how musicians start to break the rules of the music industry and release their stuff online for a reasonable price.
Radiohead had a cool idea back in October 2007 too when they made their latest album In Rainbows available for download leaving the price totally up to the downloader. You could download the whole album and pay as much as you thought appropriate for it, even nothing if you really wanted. Awfully I haven’t heard any definate numbers on the average price for the download yet, would be interesting to know if the experiment worked out for them.
